Instagram has announced new features and launched its Creator Lab, which is aimed at empowering Gen Z users and enhancing their engagement with the platform.
The new features are designed to resonate with Gen Z’s enthusiasm for interactive content, such as ‘Add Yours’ templates. Instagram’s Creator Lab is an educational initiative that provides aspiring creators with insights into the platform’s latest features and tools.
Paras Sharma, Director of Global Partnerships at Meta India, emphasised the company’s commitment to creating a space where users can connect over shared interests. He noted, “We listen closely to feedback from young people, which influences our decisions on feature launches and the development of our Creator Lab. Our goal is to enable creators to express themselves freely and achieve success in their unique ways.”
Recent trends have shaped these updates, including Gen Z’s shift towards more diverse photo dumps rather than self-centered posts. Instagram has introduced new features to enhance these photo dumps, such as creative text tools, an expanded carousel size of up to 20 pieces of content, and the ability to add music to mixed media carousels.
Additional features include “Add Yours Music,” “Frames,” and “Reveal” stickers, which encourage viewer interaction. Instagram has also added Music on Profile, Music in Content Notes, and Multitrack Audio on Reels, allowing users to incorporate up to 20 tracks into a single reel.
The Creator Lab will offer content from experienced creators sharing their journeys, including valuable lessons they’ve learned and tips for success. Initially available in Hindi and English, the lab will expand to include captions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali.
The Creator Lab’s mission is to educate users on leveraging Instagram’s new tools to creatively express themselves, build meaningful connections, and develop a sustainable career by monetizing their content and playing the long game.
