The Scotland government has launched a new contact tracing application which will help control the transmission of COVID-19 disease. When this application will be launched then approximately 600,000 peoples downloaded this application. It is available free for on to a smartphone from Apple’s App Store or Google Play on Thursday.
The Protect Scotland application lets people know if they have been in close contact with someone who later tests positive for COVID-19. The government’s application Protect Scotland uses Bluetooth to detect close contacts, people who have been within 2 minutes for at least 15 minutes.
The government of Scotland has said that the software will support the Test and Protect system and is “another tool in the fight against COVID-19”.Up until now, contact tracing application has been done manually using a method followed for years to help control the spread of infectious diseases.
Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said that “The launch of the application is a welcome development which will offer an additional level of protection, supporting NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect system as it works to drive down the spread of COVID-19 across the country”. He also said that “I would encourage everyone to download the free app if they have a compatible smart-phone and help slow the spread of COVID-19”.
Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland already roll out this application and they crucially have agreed to share databases of positive COVID-19 cases. England still has not launched its own long-awaited contact tracing app because following problems from the data privacy of users, academics, and lawmakers, the government immediately changed the decision from its preferred model to a more privacy-conscious model for the app.
Meanwhile, the government of Singapore has distributed to every citizen of his country wearable devices to protect them. This device is very useful to every citizen of Singapore because it will store a record of close contacts for up to 25 days, which can only be removed when the device is physically handed over to a health officer. The devices are fixing to complement its ‘Trace Together’ application, which was among the first in the world to launch.
